Surprise Visit!!

This weekend we were so blessed by a surprise visit from my parents and my brother and sister-in-law! They called us on Friday and asked if they could make a quick trip over here so they arrived last night around midnight and we spent quality time with them this morning and afternoon! It was so encouraging...thank you, Lord, for such a great family and for the surprises in life!

Sorry, Dad, this isn't the most flattering picture :) I just couldn't resist putting it up :)

Homecoming Week

It's homecoming week and wow has it been a CRAZY week....:) Today one of our youth group girls was crowned Homecoming Queen!!! She is a gem and just sparkles with the love of Jesus! We're so ecstatic for her and can see the difference she is making in her school by living all out for God! :) What a fun day!

The Queen!!

We have quite a few of our students in band and they are good! :)

This week has been very busy...I'm very much looking forward to a day off unfortunately that day will not come until a few weeks. Isn't it funny that when you don't work, you get bored and want to work but when you do work, you get tired and want a day off. Oh to be content and always loving the place where you are at in life...:) Maybe I can be like that someday....after my day off :)

On a Summer's Eve

Friday was a picturesque summer's eve and perhaps the last one for quite a while! I took a subbing job on Friday and was just walking in the door after my day when I saw a picnic basket all packed up, a dog excited to go on an adventure, and a husband who had a special date planned. We drove a few miles away to a park he recently discovered and enjoyed a picnic, a hike, and the nature around us. It was a perfect summer evening!

The Skirt

Last Christmas when I received a sewing machine as a gift, I was determined to learn how to sew. The hard part was, I had no idea how to turn on the machine and didn't have a CLUE where to start on a project. So, I left it in the closet in the hopes I would learn someday. Well, that day came! Last weekend, my mom taught me how to turn it on and thread it but we didn't have time to make anything. This weekend, I decided that I was finally going to go for it so with my mother-in-law's help, I sewed my first skirt! Here's the finished product. I have to admit: sewing is pretty addicting and I just may have found a new hobby for winter :)

Is it Friday yet?

I know that I have no room to complain at all...most of you are working, are pregnant or have newborns and hardly get any sleep, are in full time school, or have other circumstances that make you tired...but because this is my blog, I can complain just a little....I'm TIRED! :) And it's only my first week of teaching!!

Actually, it's been my own fault because I've tried to pack in as much as possible in this week....cross country meet last night, date night afterward, youth group tonight, meetings after school, meetings at church....okay, I really don't have any room to talk at all :) But, I'm very much looking forward to Friday when I can sleep just a little longer :) Okay, enough complaining! I need to think some more and study up for youth group tonight :)

Benadryl: My New Best Friend

Sorry Aaron, you've been replaced. Until you can take away my sneezing, sniffling, runny nose, itchy eyes, and coughing, Benadryl will now be my new best friend. So until you can figure out a different cure or until allergy season is over.....sorry, you're put on hold :) Just kidding!! :) Allergy season is back and yesterday I was feeling it. I took a benadryl capsule and began to feel my eyes get heavy. Slowly but surely, I dozed off on the couch. All I remember is a strong muscular man picking me up in his arms and tucking me into bed. Oh, and that was at 7:00pm. I woke up at 7:00 this morning. What a great husband. Maybe I'll keep him as my best friend :)

On a different note, I've been extremely emotional lately...but like a joyful emotional. Everything has been "touching" to me lately and I just find myself shedding a tear. This morning I saw all of the youth group students around me and thought of the dear seniors we have for only one more year and I shed a tear. This afternoon I spent quality time reading with my husband and I found myself emotional over being blessed with such a great husband. Tonight I cried during a play at church...this is totally not like me! I guess it's a good thing, but so different for me who usually doesn't cry! I need to get it out of my system before tomorrow when my precious preschoolers come so I can be tough :) Speaking of, I better get some good sleep tonight! Bring on the Benadryl!

Tis the Season for Football, School, and Sweatshirts!

Fall is in the air-I can feel it, smell it, taste it and I'm absolutely loving it :) Tonight we have our first football game. I'm excited to cuddle up to my husband in my sweatshirt and blanket and support our youth group students in all their activities! This week has been so busy hence the no blogging lately. Things have gone into full swing: we had our first youth group on Wednesday and my first day of teaching preschool is Monday!

I'm so excited for this year and so anxious to see what God is going to teach me....I tend to have "themes" that God teaches me every year. Last year it was loneliness and dependence upon Him. It was hard, but I'm so thankful that God allowed me to go through it. I wonder what this schoolyear holds :) I guess I'll let you know in May :)

(All ready to go to our first football game :) Go Braves!)
