Life

I REALLY wanted to be better at blogging this year. Mostly because it's nice to have a journal of our life on here (and maybe I can replace scrapbooking with making my blog into a book at the end of the year? That would be awesome!) but, life happens. We travel. We invite people over. We live life.

And, I suppose that's better than always documenting everything. My husband and I are very different in that way. I take pictures of anything and everything to document it. My husband lives in the moment and doesn't care about the camera....I think between the 2 of us, we could come up with a good balance :)

So, I'll keep putting stuff up when I have time...and know that we're just plain living life when I'm absent from this online space :)

Connor will be 9 months old on Friday (and since it's my birthday as well, he can be my birthday present) :)

He started crawling this month, saying "Hi!", has 7 teeth, and has just started pulling himself up.
He's still on the skinny side but we're eating plenty of avocados and meat around here :)

He's SOOOO funny....it's fun to see our kids' personalities really come out. Tristen is shy and cautious but really comes out of his shell when he's comfortable around people. Aubrey is a social butterfly and loves hugs, kisses, and cuddles. She's a pretty spunky little thing and always has been. And then there's Connor. He just sits and laughs. He loves to be around people (although he's going through a phase of only wanting me!), and has an odd sense of adventure (he loves to be elevated in the air...which is odd since his room is slowly becoming an airplane room. I planned it well before he was born...maybe I somehow knew how much he would love heights!) We're joking he's going to be our skydiver/pilot child that we're always worried about. And he'll have a smile on his face the whole time saying, "Look Mom!!! Look how high I can go!" :)

Someday soon (when it's warm), I'll get around to taking some updated pictures of this little man....but in the meantime, here's a pic of our smily, funny, almost 9 month old child :)

Easter

A little late in posting this Easter pic....looks can be deceiving with this picture. Our morning was SO hectic and rushed....and I think I'll remember that when I see this picture even though it shows nothing of the sort :)
Even amidst the rush, we were able to truly soak up the message at church and it was such a powerful service. This year has been a little rough on our family in the church attendance area (we're always there but teaching Sunday School, greeting, nursery duty, etc. so we often don't get to go to the church service) but Easter was a breath of fresh air as we sat together as a family and worshipped. We're making sitting together as a family a big priority next year even if we have to say no to GOOD things. And I'm SO excited....I've truly missed it this year.

These 3 were so cute in all their Easter clothes!

Hope you all had a great Easter!

Let the Projects Begin

I'm not joking that I'm an idea person....my bedroom at the moment is a prime example. Last week I had 7 projects all lined up and my head was spinning with the ideas....and then 8:00 hits and I'm exhausted and just want to sleep! And guess what my room still has? Yep, most of the projects still lined up....unfinished. I've found this is true of many idea people....we start projects but have a harder time finishing them.

Having people move in with us kicked me into high gear though so here are a few of the things that have occupied my time as of late:
Ignore my couch cushions that look funky due to the quality of my camera phone. A relative was getting rid of these shutters a few years back and I snatched these babies up! Anything free that is interesting and unique is my style. They used to look like this:
Fun to have bright colors, but we decided to go a little classier in this house. I repainted them black and white last week and it was a huge job....but loving the new fresh style in this house.

Again, another phone camera picture. It's so easy to pull out that phone and take a picture!! I really needed a lamp for Connor's room but didn't want to spend the money on a cool looking one. This picture doesn't do it justice, but I bought a cheap lamp and hot glued/mod-podged twine around it. It took a while but I am loving the result. It's making his vintage travel room come together...

And then, the start of Tristen's vintage superhero themed room. It's a start...my newest idea is to put faux brick panels on the walls to really make it look vintage! See? SOOOO many ideas! My head needs to stop thinking of new projects!

Today we had our first CRAZY thing happen in our new home...and with our new house guests (bless their hearts, they are so laid back and okay with things!) We woke up to BLACK water...yep...something happened to our water softener and by the end of the day, it was actually black....I've NEVER seen water do that!! Hopefully by tomorrow it will be fixed...but in the meantime, we're all trying to have a good attitude. What an adventure :)

Our last week

What a week! We've been talking about the Easter story and what Jesus did for us all week...it's so fun and exciting to see my children start to absorb Bible stories!
Tristen has started measuring all things. Future builder? :)

Connor has been teary eyed and I discovered 3 more teeth...no wonder he was so teary :)

Tristen and Aubrey experienced their first movie theater experience (at our newly remodeled cheap theater! Yay for cheap movies!)

Besides that, we have a new journey that we're going on....and this time we're not the ones moving :) A family that needed a place to live temporarily moved in with us last night. We have been so blessed over the years when people have opened up their homes to us so we really wanted to help another family out. They are a family of 5 so now we have 10 of us living under one roof :) As an extrovert, I say, "The more the merrier!"

I hope and pray you all have a blessed Easter!
