The Heated House
Yea!! Our house is finally heated again after two and a half long days without heat! It was actually such a fun memory but we were ready for it to come back on today! There isn't much you can do when you are absolutely freezing in your house so we took huge blankets and caught up on LOST (we don't get much TV so we have been buying the sets and watching them like TV....so fun and helps us not watch too much TV!) and watched a few chick flicks too! :) It was so fun but it's good to have heat back! I am thanking God so much for heat...it's a luxury we take for granted WAY too often!! :)

Brrrr!!!!
Aaron and I are officially freezing! Last night we got back from a bowling event with our high schoolers and noticed that our house was a little cold. We never have our house cold! haha...we usually have it up to 70! So....we turned it up to 72 and waited for the change of temp. Well, 2 hours later and a few degrees colder, we knew something was wrong. My courageous husband went downstairs to find out that our furnace wasn't working! We bundled up in sweatshirts, coats, and blankets and froze through the night! We're still waiting for the heating guy to come back and fix it so we are sooooo cold!! Brrr!! So with numb hands and feet, I write this, hoping for some sympathy...haha, just kidding :) I will never take heat in my house for granted again :)

Happy Easter!
We hope you all had an incredible Easter and were able to reflect upon Christ's death and resurrection. We had a great weekend!! On Friday, we attended a Good Friday service at church and then my parents came on Saturday to spend the weekend with us! Saturday we just relaxed and played games and then on Sunday, we had an Easter Brunch at our church to help raise funds for our youth group trip to Challenge in Salt Lake City this summer! It was a WONDERFUL morning and we had a great service at church! After church, we had a Easter meal at our house with my parents and then said goodbye to them....we then had a Easter supper at a couple from our church's house...and then we rushed back home to see Aaron's dad who came to help us with our basement. It was a FULL day and really a great Easter!
Happy Easter!!! :)

Aaron's Book entitled "Life with Erika"
After I wrote the last post, I thought I would let you know that my "Oops Project" went into "The Book". The book entitled "Life with Erika" is a collection of ridiculous and crazy/dumb:) things I have done while Aaron and I have been married. Aaron writes them down and someday, when it is published, you can all read about the funny things Aaron has to live with every day! Ha! His favorite "Erika moment" so far: Erika wanted to relax her eyes one day after a long day of student teaching but she didn't have cucumbers. Since pickles are pickled cucumbers, she thought that pickles would have the same effect as cucumbers do. She carefully put the pickles on her eyes, waited for the relaxing, soothing feeling she got with the cucumbers, and suddenly started feeling a pain shoot through her eyes. Not wanting to give up right away, she tried to keep them on a bit longer, but finally a few minutes later, her eyes were red, stingy, and anything but relaxed!!! Never ever try pickles on your eyes! :)
Oops... :)
We have been so busy lately that I haven't had much time to blog! However, I wanted to show you WHY we've been so busy! Last weekend, I had this GRAND idea to paint my kitchen....and take off the tiles that were on half of a wall. I started chipping away at the tiles with my mother-in-law Marcia and we were so proud of ourselves as we looked at all the tiles chipped off. Little did we know that taking off the tiles would start a gigantic project of taking off the wall and putting a whole new piece of sheetrock back on! Oops is a little bit of a understatement :) But, my husband is so patient and really thought the whole ordeal was funny and lovingly put a new wall on!

Spring is Finally Here!!!
Well....maybe :) The forecast tomorrow is snow, BUT, today it is in the 50's and we are enjoying the weather! Tonight, we are going on a walk and might even take our convertible for a little spin! Yeah!! This beautiful weather might just inspire us to landscape our yard soon and I can finally have my little garden. (If any of you are gardeners, I may need some advice! I have no idea what I'm doing, but it will be fun!) Anyway, we're so happy that spring is probably here to stay!!

Just a little bit of paint......
can make a big difference, Aaron and I have been learning! Although our basement is no where near finished, I promised to put up pictures of our basement project! So...this is of our future laundry room. The entire basement is the ugly turquoise color right now (ahhh!!! yuck!), but soon will have a beautiful sheetrock over it! :) However, our first improvement was in our laundry room with just a little bit of paint :)
Before: The lovely turquoise and the Lion King keeping us company :)

Extremely Busy
I know that I am not the only one to say that life is extremely busy!! Although Aaron and I have an extremely busy schedule, I have actually gotten quite used to it....the normal routine that is. However, then there are those weeks that are absolutely crazy busy and you just want to sleep the entire week away...the ones that are different than the normal weeks. For some reason, this week has started out extremely busy and as I look ahead, all I can see is the busyness increasing! The verse I have as our theme verse just really caught my eye tonight and I'm reminded to keep my focus on Christ, amidst everything going on. The song "Day By Day" by DC Talk is running through my head right now and the lyrics go like this:
Day by day
Oh Dear Lord, three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
To love thee more dearly
To follow thee more nearly
Day by day
My reminder for the day/week/month is to take each day at a time and pray that I may see Christ more clearly, love Him more dearly and follow Him more nearly, before all other "distractions" in life. What a great reminder....all other things can wait! :)

Sadie- "The Exterminator"
Many people get cats to eat their mice. Well, we don't have a mouse problem anymore, but we certainly do have a bug problem! Yuck!! However, we've found that our dog loves to watch the bugs, catch them, and dispose of them. How brilliant! Our new exterminator.....Sadie! :)
Sadie watching the bug
Still watching, waiting for the kill
