Oh the Fun

I like an escape from our schedule. This week was all about getting away from our schedule and it was SO great.....we came back MUCH more tired but it was worth it!

Aubrey LOVED the waterpark....Tristen did too but he's more cautious than she is so he needed extra prodding from his daddy to go down any slides. It was great fun though and Aaron and I took advantage of the waterslides too!!

 

We met our nephew, Jack, on Sunday. He's super cute and oh so tiny still. Here are a few pics of our visit with him:

 

My sister-in-law, Sarah, and I threw Lindsay a baby shower. I love throwing parties and had a BLAST with this theme! We went with an outdoors/wood theme and enjoyed some yummy "woods" theme food (complete with my fave s'mores dip EVER!!)

Oh.So.Fun.

 

 

My other highlight of the weekend was time with my cousin, Amber and her family! I just realized that I forgot to take pics while there but we loved catching up with them and playing with her kiddos!!

 

And with that, I need to catch up on laundry and get back to my schedule....we have a few more days of spring break and then 2 busy months leading up to our vacation to Disneyworld (which is Aaron's next break in between spring and summer sessions). Aaron starts a clinical rotation next week that will enable him to be home every night. We are SO excited to say the least :) Hope you're all having a great week!

A Month!?

Oops! It's been a month since my last blog post. My mind has been blank and I've been busy.....I know, it's not a good excuse but I just haven't had much inspiration as of late! So, get ready for a bullet point post to recap the highlights:

*Drum Roll please*

*AUBREY is CRAWLING!!! Wahoo! That litle girl is such a spunky little thing that I could just sit and laugh at her all day long. She mastered crawling on her 8 month birthday last Saturday but on Monday, she decided that wasn't enough, so she is attempting to pull herself up and stand more. Yes, life is busier but I can't get enough of her new accomplishments so I don't mind the busyness!

*Tristen is SO curious about everything and wants to know "Who's that, Mama?" "What happened, Aubrey?" "What are you doin', Daddy?" He is a very orderly little boy and LOVES to clean. Oh my goodness, it's awesome :) He helps me with dishes every day and loves to sweep the floors! I've been learning how important it is to LET him help me around the house. In my days of teaching, I noticed some parents not wanting their kids to be independent because it "took too long" or "it is an inconvenience" because it DOES take extra time (and resweeping the floors! Ha!) but seriously, let your kids help, TEACH them how to help, and encourage them to do things on their own instead of always doing things for them. They need those skills!! I absolutely love the teaching that I get to do with my own kids now. :) My college education is definitely not going to waste :)

*Besides the time with my kids, my highlight of every week is helping out with youth group. I don't even entertain the thought of moving because I absolutely love the jr. high girls that I'm working with and don't want to stop working with them. They pretty much rock my world!! Plus, I get to see my husband from across the room pouring into guy's lives. This is our niche.....volunteering in youth ministry. It's been SO fun :)

*2013 has been a pretty rockin' year so far. 2012 was hard for SO many reasons....2013 has been such a great, refreshing year so far.

*Aaron has spring break next week. We've been getting some grief for not taking our kids with us to Disneyworld in May so we decided to take a little mini-vaca to a waterpark.....for the kiddos! See, we're good parents after all :) We're headed to meet our new nephew, Jack, and then onto the waterpark. We're pumped....even though I keep on having a recurring dream that I forget our swimming suits. *Whew* Let's hope that doesn't happen :)

*Tristen had his first unofficial drum lesson with Aaron and now LOVES to play the drums. Rocker in the house?!
